'Braking' my Driving Lessons

I spent the whole summer learning how to drive a car..Turned out to be great fun...its fun when you tell yourself that YOU are teaching the car how to 'walk'..run and drive!

I guess..now its paying me back with a Driver's Licence after 6 months! (I took a break for 5 months)

Hymn of Unbalanced Eternity

Hung by the last string of Broken Melody,

Starry Thoughts.

There was once a place I used to visit..

where I could see whatever I wished for..

Just a moment of closed eyes and..there it was!

It was the mighty night sky

and the stars were the ones drawing out my dreams.

and there were new ones which built my own constellations..

I sat and tried to make them visible

to the lost eyes sitting beside me..

laughed when they dint find it,

cried when there was noone to find it

Making my own Tribe.

Its amazing how we end up selecting a few among thousand faces...just click together...eventually tailing a similar "culture" among the millions. But there does exist some unseen differences within the Tribe, popping out of neverland, differences which bring Change or Inspiration or even Suprizes..but at times one really wishes these differences were long extinct...and to have someone with no differences at all..to have Me again talking to myself and listening to Me.....and making my own tribe.

The last part of the assignment where we had to visualize the character in a totally different context. Abhisaar is exploring the streets of Teen Darwaza (Old City of Ahmedabad) as a Tourist.

This followed the previous assignment and dealt with the creation of a poster promoting the characteristics of the paired partner after having interacted and getting to know his/her background.

My poster attempted to speak a 'tech' and a 'digital' language to best picturize Abhisaar's character.

ILLUSTRATION Assignment 1 (i)

A series of assignments dealing with random pairs analyzing their partners and deriving a character out of their own study as a part of the course of Illustration Graphic Design Semester III. (Sept 2008)

As the first part of the assignment, this post deals with relating an animal to the respective partner and hence representing the transition in three stages. I related my partner, Abhisaar Rastogi, to a Hamster, taking both physical and characteristic aspects into account.

Its pongal time!..for the first time..it had been more than just wishing each other happy pongal/sankranti...had fun getting all the southies together...n making the celebration a successful one!

The early, sleepy 'savera', beginning with the lousy yawn by the neighbour, a 'slurp' of chai across the corridor, a 'buzzz..' of fly near the ear, a CLANK! of utensils in the kitchen, the occasional lazy screams by the 'doodhwala,*clicking* of tv channels, people sccrrrreaming for bathrooms..the radio singing..children SHOUTING..hawkers YELLING!...TRAFFIC jamming...babies crying and suddenly...I realize...it is no more a sleepy..but a much awakened and alive 'savera'...Good morning!

Not like this was the first time I was meeting trouble during travel...well..after having once waiting at the delhi airport fr 6hrs with chicken pox..this was another of those times...when everythin feels dizzy n you have noone to help you out...well, thats how I felt when i reached the airport and was told my flite's been cancelled..ran around the airport searching fr the head of 'some' department and finally reached my campus after having to spend 8 hrs in Mumbai!

This describes the times of my 'epilepsy' of getting back to those 'nerdy' books which literally 'integrated' n 'differentiated' the brain cells..i do miss it..but lets see what design has fr us here.. :)

One of my "cornered illustration", living a different time.. Talking in terms of dust, I guess..this one coughed out heaps of dust..was initally a work with colour pencils and poster paint..later made digital changes and well...Ola!
